The Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation (DRPT) is in the process of updating the statewide Coordinated Human Services Mobility Plan (CHSM).  This conference session will describe the planning process, provide a status update, and offer an opportunity for attendee input. 

The CHSM plan identifies specialized transportation options and gaps in human service transportation for seniors, individuals with disabilities, and people with low incomes.  The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) requires that projects selected for funding under the Section 5310 Enhanced Mobility for Seniors and individuals with Disabilities program, be included in the CHSM.

The planning process has involved stakeholder involvement, public outreach, evaluation of existing human service agency and public transportation services, and identification of barriers, gaps and challenges.  These activities will provide a foundation for coordinated transportation goals and strategies to guide statewide services.
