Description

Managing your transit system’s finances is much more than balancing the books. While it is important to understand basic financial concepts such as accurate revenue and expense tracking and compliance with FTA regulations, financial management includes short- and long-term planning; understanding your true operating costs; determining farebox revenue and contract rates; local match; understanding and using cost allocation models; performance measurement’s role in financial decision making; and more. This workshop will engage participants in hands-on exercises and provide opportunities to look at agency-specific approaches to managing day-to-day and long-range financial operations for your transit system. Transit agencies are encouraged to have their managers and accounting staff attend this training.
