Trevor Shannon is the Battalion Chief of Emergency Management and Community Preparedness for the City of Roanoke Fire-EMS Department. He is also the Special Operations Battalion Chief overseeing the hazardous materials, technical rescue and water rescue teams that are a part of VDEM Division 6 Regional Team. He has been employed with the city for 20 years beginning his career as a firefighter/EMT in 2004. Throughout his career, he has held positions in all ranks up to his current role and served almost five years at the Roanoke Regional Fire-EMS Training Center. Prior to his appointment to the Emergency Management Coordinator, he was a deputy emergency coordinator and built a solid foundation of knowledge for his current position. He is a member of the Virginia Fire Chief’s Association, Southwest Virginia Incident Management Team, the International Association of Emergency Managers and the Virginia Emergency Management Association.
Trevor is a graduate of Roanoke College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and a concentration in Healthcare Administration. He graduated from American Military University with his Masters of Arts degree in Emergency and Disaster Management in 2018. Most recently, Trevor has earned professional designations as Chief Fire Officer from the Center for Public Safety Excellence, Certified Emergency Manager (CEM®) from the International Association of Emergency Managers and Professional Emergency Manager (PEM) from the Virginia Emergency Management Association.
Trevor lives in Salem with his wife, Jenn, and two young boys, Tyler age 16 and Jacob, 12.
