Description

All organizations experience conflict for the simple fact that individuals differ from one another. Conflict is normal, unavoidable, and necessary as it increases awareness of problems that exist and provides a reason for finding a better way forward. When itis valued, productive conflict also encourages open-mindedness, and it leads to new perspectives, innovation, and improved relationships. Therefore, good supervisors know to expect conflict and even welcome it.  Since conflicts are a natural part of the workplace, it is important for companies to employ leaders who understand how to manage and resolve them. To guide new supervisors in using conflict as constructive tool for learning and teaching, we developed Conflict Management for New Supervisors. During this two-hour workshop, participants will be provided with definitions, models, tips, and real-world applications for effectively managing workplace conflict. Topics include, but are not limited to, different sources of conflict, conflict modes, and conflict management techniques.  Participants will also learn productive ways to give and receive feedback, which not only reduces conflict but also creates a more positive work environment.
